Yin Yoga
Service Description
Yin is a very slow-paced yoga class where you melt into longer held postures (about 2-5 minutes), mostly all on the floor. Sinking into these shapes, and focusing on the breath- this practice allows us to work the deeper 'yin' tissues of our ligaments, joints, deep fascial networks, and even our bones. In Chinese medicine there is the concept of Yin and Yang, which are opposite and complementary principles in nature. In terms of the human body, Yin represents the stable connective tissues and Yang represents the changing, more pliable muscles and blood in the body. In a Yin class, you dive into finding that equilibrium in a posture- where it doesn't feel too intense but not too gentle either. It's 'hanging out on the edge.'
